New Hollywood Prayer Network Asks You to: 'Start Praying, Stop Boycotting'

ASSIST News Service

LOS ANGELES -- The Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN) today launched the organization’s red 90028 wristbands and mySpace website as the next phase in their effort to raise awareness of Hollywood as "the world’s most influential mission field."

The new red wristbands are embossed with 90028, which is Hollywood's zip code. Similar to the yellow LIVESTRONG wristband made popular by cyclist Lance Armstrong to inspire and empower those affected by cancer, the new red wristbands are embossed with 90028, which is Hollywood's zip code and is designed to raise awareness of Hollywood as “The World’s Most Influential Zip Code.”

The campaign asks people to 1) Pray that the Christians working in Hollywood would be ambassadors of beauty, truth and grace. 2) Pray that Christians around the globe will embrace 90028 as a mission field and 3) Pray that celebrities and decision makers will come to know how high and long and wide and deep is Christ’s love for them.

Karen Covell, founder and director of the Hollywood prayer Network (HPN) says: "Hollywood is the seat of influence globally, and HPN wants to do our part in challenging the church to join us in praying for the people and the projects in this industry. We believe that praying for Hollywood is having an eternal impact.”

As a tie-in to the wristbands, HPN has created a 90028 mySpace page. mySpace has become the premiere web portal for people of all ages to write personal blogs, email their friends, and market their events. The HPN mySpace (www.myspace.com/hollywoodprayernetwork)  will feature blogs with articles and updated prayer requests to guide their "friends" as they pray for the celebrities and decision makers in Hollywood.

In addition to the 90028 wristbands and mySpace, Hollywood Prayer Network's other promotional items include: their website -- HollywoodPrayerNetwork.org;  Remote Prayer Stickers -- which are designed to stick on the front of any TV remote and encourage viewers to "Pray for this show," and The Hollywood Tribe, a documentary DVD that includes a fifteen minute main feature and over an hour of special features in which Christians working in Hollywood share stories of what God is doing in and through them as they work in the entertainment industry. Remote Prayer Stickers and Hollywood Tribe DVD's are available free of cost from the e-store on HPN’s website (http://www.hollywoodprayernetwork.org/).

In the six years since its creation in 2001, Hollywood Prayer Network's membership has grown to over 5,000 members. HPN reaches out to churches, para-church organizations, and individuals across the globe, asking them to stop boycotting Hollywood and its products and to begin praying for all aspects of film, television, music and news media.

They hope to double that number in the next year with the launch of their new mySpace page and 90028 wristbands.

My husband and I are also against this ministry. Google Phil Kassel Karen Covell. Christians should be known by their works and not their words.

My wife and I are firmly opposed to what you are doing. Please cease to be, in Jesus' name, Amen.

In Hollywood dwell the prophets of Baal (Satan). They set up their glimmering idols in evey city, and we all bow down to worship their flickering images. They cause their abominations to speak, and we and our children shout "GLORY"!

Jer 11:13 For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal. 14Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble

Josh 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD

My wife and I firmly believe in what you are doing. Please keep it up.

However, we have an obligation of stewardship which includes not supporting worldly evil as are many of the movies coming out of Hollywood and other places. To NOT boycott means that we would be supporting the bottom line of these trash creators and even encouraging them to make more and worse films. This is not the way of Christians. To NOT boycott would be doing two things. 1-Endorsing the trash with our money. 2-Filling our spirits and souls with the very trash which we are trying to stop for the sake of the next generation.

We strongly admonish you to encourage them to continue prayer AND boycotting. You will find that they will respond to their god of the bottom line long before responding to prayer.

Thanks you,

William and Rebecca Thames
