I do not believe that the only reason why these people were killed was because of a suspiction of witchcraft being used against the relatives of the perpetrators, but if that is the excuse they gave for their crime, it could very well be enough reason. In the Mayan culture witchcraft is a very common belief and practice.
Evangelicals do not practice witchcraft, but those who do not know may misunderstand the way our Christian faith is practiced.
May God have mercy on these ignorant murderers.
