Style: AC pop/rock akin to Steven Curtis Chapman and Casting Crowns
Top tracks: "While I'm Waiting," "Faith Is Living"
In a nutshell: The title track to John Waller's sophomore album, While I'm Waiting, is familiar. This earnest anthem of devotion actually appeared on first disc, 2007's The Blessing, but has now gotten new traction thanks to screen time in the Christian film Fireproof. The song may feel cinematic, but the rest of the album is more countrified—the type of Nashville-styled pop/rock Steven Curtis Chapman was making in 1996. It's a nice little homage to Waller's influences but may not be quite the blockbuster that the theatrical centerpiece seems to promise.
