Distractions

Isaiah 44:6 Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.
Have you ever noticed how many distractions there are in life. Things that grab your attention. E-mails. Phone calls. Shopping. Useless shows on TV. Running the kids here. Running them there.
We kid ourselves - it's going to slow down. It never does, does it? It just seems to get faster and faster. More things. Pick up the dry cleaning. Take out the garbage. None of them are wrong. None of them are bad.
Then we turn around one day and think - what's it all about?
God? God? Naaah. There's too much stuff to do.
God once said "I the Lord your God - I am the first and I will be the last."
Hmmm. That's big. Really …big. In fact, when you look at it that way, all these other things are so small. When you take an eternal perspective - well, maybe, just maybe things look a bit different. Maybe, just maybe, the stuff we run around doing, well we end up missing the main game.
Oh the phone.
Whoops I'd better answer that. Berni Dymet speaking Hi, how ya doing? …
