Prioritizing Your Time
By: Rick Boxx
April 17, 2012

A friend is running a business, managing his family and launching a ministry. He fears being disobedient to God if he doesn’t spend more time in the ministry. His wife is concerned that he’s putting the ministry above the family. He asked for my advice.

Speaking from past experiences I shared that our commitment to family takes precedence over time in a ministry or business. Both are organizations, not God. Putting God first doesn’t mean putting a ministry first.

1 Timothy 3:5 teaches, “If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?”

Whether it’s a church or ministry or business, if you aren’t managing your family well, you may be spending too much time elsewhere. Your family takes precedence.
