Becoming a Christian

WHAT TO DO NEXT
If you are seriously thinking about living God's way and know that you are not, read through the following points and the suggestions that follow. By turning back to God and (ASKING) for mercy (trusting in Jesus' death and resurrection), you become a member of God's family. Being a member of God's family is a great privilege, is enormously fulfilling, but can often be challenging. It is not an easy way, but it is by far a better way.
1. Pray
To become a Christian/Child of God, you need to admit that you have sinned against Him, that you can not enter Heaven based on anything you do or don’t do, and that you are asking for mercy on the basis of Jesus' paying your debt through HIS crucifixion and resurrection. Ask God to help you change from being a rebel to being someone who places Jesus as Lord over their life. After all, “it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me,” now that you have been “bought with a price.”
You do need to be aware that it is not a question of merely saying a few words. You need to mean what you are saying. By wanting to become a member of God's family, you are saying that you want to live as a member of God's family. This is the beginning of something that will go on for the rest of your life.
2. Submit to Jesus
Once you have prayed the sort of prayer set out at the end of this section, you will want to start putting it into practice--that is, actually submitting to Jesus and living as a member of God's family. There will no doubt be all kinds of areas in your life in need of
WHEN EACH PERSON IS BORN, THEIR NAME IS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE. AND WHEN THEY SIN, THEIR NAME IS BLOTTED OUT. WHEN WE ACCEPT JESUS AS OUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR, OUR NAME IS THEN WRITTEN IN THE LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE – WE NOW HAVE “ETERNAL” LIFE.
Spiritual Growth.
By placing your trust in God, you are also trusting that God will help you in your new journey.
There are 4 essentials to growth as a new believer in Christ.
Pray – Talk to God. What about? Everything. When? Anytime. Where? Everywhere.
Read and get to know the Jesus of the Bible – The Bible is God’s way of letting us know what is up. It contains history, principles, and stories that are relevant and helpful for living life in today’s world. Start in the book of John and then move on to other books.
Plug into a church – Get involved in a Bible-teaching church that is outreach oriented and intentional about living for God. Meet the pastor and tell him about your new decision. Ask him about baptism and church membership.
Tell others – Tell others (friends, family, co-workers) about you new relationship with Jesus Christ.
