HISTORY: ADAM & THE LAW OF MOSES, FULFILLED THROUGH JESUS
It’s a long-debated question – is there any way to get to Heaven besides believing in Jesus?
Well, technically, yes. The Law that God handed down to His chosen people the Israelites through Moses, if kept to the letter, would keep a person in fellowship and contact with God. Unfortunately, the free will that God gave to man, allowing him to choose his own ways over those of God, was exercised in the Garden of Eden by the first people, Adam and Eve.
A victory was won for the serpent/Satan/The Devil that day, when he succeeded in separating God’s favorite creation from God’s holy presence. And because of that, we all have been subject to sin ever since, with only one person succeeding at keeping God’s law:
Jesus.
UNDER THE LAW OF MOSES, WHICH GOD GAVE TO MAN, WITHOUT THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD, THERE WAS NO REMISSION OF SIN. JESUS WAS THAT LAMB, THE LAMB OF GOD, WHO LAID DOWN HIS LIFE. (QUOTE: JOHN 15 “GREATER LOVE HAS NO MAN THAN THIS
Jesus fulfills EVERY JOT AND TITTLE OF THE WHOLE LAW OF GOD, AND THE LAW WAS FULFILLED. THE DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS BROUGHT AN END TO THE “OLD COVENANT” AND THE BEGINNING OF THE “NEW COVENANT”. (NEED A QUOTE FOR THIS, PROBABLY FROM HEBREWS.)
Jesus, unlike you and I, always lived under God's authority. He always did what God said, and so did not deserve death or punishment.
He had the power of God to heal the sick, walk on water and even raise the dead, but Jesus allowed himself to be executed on a cross.
God accepted Jesus' death as payment in full for our sins, and raised Him from the dead.
Jesus has also been appointed God's judge of the world. The Bible promises that one day, he will return to call all of us to account for our actions. THE CHRISTIAN HAS ALREADY BEEN JUDGED, FOUND GUILTY, AND “DIED” “IN CHRIST” – WHICH IS OUR IDENTITY WITH HIM. BUT OUR WORKS WILL BE JUDGED ONE DAY – OUR WORKS (OBEDIENCE TO GOD) FROM THE DAY WE GOT SAVED. WE WILL RECEIVE REWARDS FOR WHAT WE’VE DONE IN OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD. 1 COR 15… BUT THE PERSON WHO DOESN’T RECEIVE JESUS AS SAVIOR, WILL GO BEFORE THE GREAT WHITE THRONE OF JUDGMENT.
