Withholding Wages

California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has won a legal battle for now, but at what cost? As a negotiation tool to get the state legislature to address a huge budget deficit, Governor Schwarzenegger demanded that the pay of state employees be slashed to the minimum wage.
Although there obviously needs to be a resolution to the budget impasse, and I don't presume to know the answer, there still is something wrong about playing politics with an employee's pay. Especially with thousands involved.
James 5:4 teaches, "Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty."
If you're called to be a shepherd over your staff, prayerfully consider the ramifications of withholding wages.
