Let it Happen: Deluxe Edition

Revisiting an 8-year-old album could be considered a risky move. But then again, this is MxPx. Rekindling its relationship with Tooth & Nail Records, the band has re-released a deluxe edition of one of its most successful projects to date, Let it Happen, with the worthy inclusion of three new songs.
Right on par with MxPx’s overachieving track record, each of the album’s three new tunes make the disc worth grabbing. “Role Remodeling” is a bit of a darker take on the group’s classic approach, much like vintage Bad Religion. “Prozac” is fast-moving and love-crazy as vocalist Mike Herrera sings, “Who needs Prozac when I’ve got you?” And “Your Turn” showcases the band doing what it does best: tenaciously driving melodies into memory.
Produced by Aaron Sprinkle and mixed by J.R. McNeely, these three songs are a bit slicker than the original recordings, though no less raw in emotion. Any fan of punk rock should own this album.
