Paul Baker's Bio

While yet in grade school, Paul Baker spent endless nights listening to the radio in the headboard of his bed. He would sample stations many thousands of miles from his Tampa, Florida home. To this day, his interest in radio has not diminished.
Paul was a high school junior when he landed his first radio job. His work has taken him to stations from coast to coast. In 1970, Paul was named Billboard Magazine's 'Air Personality of the Year'. His interest in Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) led him to become its chief historian. Paul has handled virtually every aspect of ministry and the radio industry.
He hosted the nation's first weekly syndicated CCM music radio program, 'A Joyful Noise'.
Paul has written six books and more than 400 published articles for magazines such as Billboard and The Saturday Evening Post. He served as assistant A&R director for Myrrh Records. He became managing editor of CCM Magazine, and later the first musical director for what is now KLTY in Dallas, the nation's premier CCM station.
In 1995, Paul became KKHT's first morning drive host, a spot he has held ever since.
Paul describes his greatest passions as 'Faith, Family, and lots of travel'. He and his wife Debbie are the parents of a son and a daughter. He has traveled to Europe, China, South Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Kenya, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Haiti. On many of these trips, Paul has traveled with Christian organizations, returning to Houston to report to KKHT listeners the state of the church and the needs of the people in those countries, then helping to raise funds for those needs.
