Charli D'Amelio Leaves Viewers in Tears After Performance on Dancing with the Stars

Charli D'Amelio Leaves Viewers in Tears After Performance on Dancing with the Stars
  • Updated Oct 19, 2022

The show Dancing with the Stars is in its 31st season, having paired countless celebrities with professional dancers. While every performance is impressive, some stand out more than others and are remembered for years to come. This contemporary dance by Charli D'Amelio is one of those.

Charli D'Amelio shot to fame on TikTok in 2019 and currently has an impressive 148.2 million followers. She was just 15 when she became a viral sensation. Now 18 years old, Charli has openly shared about her mental health and struggle with severe anxiety. Her partner Mark Ballas, a professional ballroom dancer and choreographer, choreographed this contemporary dance that is stunning both technically and emotionally. Charli wears pure white, while Mark is cloaked and painted in black, moving in the shadows. He represents anxiety, constantly having a hold on Charli and controlling her moves. She symbolically runs away, is pulled back again, and eventually escapes. Her expressions throughout the performance are perfect - we see her inner struggle, her exhaustion, and her ultimate will to fight back. They earned an almost perfect score of 39 out of 40.

Many viewers and fans of the show are commenting on her dance, saying they were extremely emotional. Some have expressed how they relate to the struggle with anxiety, while others view Mark's "character" as depression or addiction. Some commented:

"Looking at this from a perspective of addiction rather than anxiety makes this even more powerful. So many people are watching this dance and relating their own truths and struggles to it."

"I have watched this dance maybe 1,000 times. I relate to the emotion she is showing. I started crying while watching this dance because I also suffer with such bad anxiety."

If you are exhausted from your fight with anxiety, depression, or addiction, know that there is hope today. The Lord will not forsake you; you can find healing and escape the grasp of darkness.

1 Peter 5:7: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for You."
