"Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly." -1 Chronicles 28:20
Still in my bed, early one morning I opened my eyes to see a soft, lovely sunrise just outside my window. It was the kind that begins as a rose-colored glow just above the horizon line, bleeding into peach, then light yellow, then light blue before deep blue. It was a fluid ombre sky. And without a conscious thought in my head, I immediately heard The Lord speak to me in His clear voice: “Don’t stop until you see seamless beauty.”
I had been reading the Book of Job and praying about the writing of my book, Enduring Grace, days earlier. I wanted to be sure the content is accurate and correct, according to God’s righteousness, before sharing it with the world.
Two days after the significant sunrise, I had a coffee appointment with a dear friend, whom I help disciple. In preparation for our meeting, I searched for a few pertinent scriptures to share with her. The first one I came to was one that God used to affirm to me His revealed word: 1 Chronicles 28:20 (above). Isn’t that just like God to give us something just for us as we reach out to help another of His beloved?
I love God!
When God is in our works, there is fluidity, seamlessness and beauty. There is power and polish and grace. There is purpose. If we walk closely with The Holy Spirit, He will enable it to be so through us. And like a program director, He will have a new process for us that may not fit into our box of prior training or production. I’ve noticed that when God assigns me to a new work, it’s different than the previous one I completed for Him; and it parallels His current, ongoing assignments for me. There is a unique anointing and a new method for His new works. God is about multiplicity. He adds to our repertoire of understanding, always calling us higher in Him along our journeys as we step out in faith and obey. He builds us. He awakens us to trust Him and depend upon Him in ways we haven’t seen before. In doing so, He co-labors with us to create a fresh work while maturing us spiritually. God always has more.
1 Chronicles 28:20 is encouragement from The Lord through King David to his son, Solomon, in the building of God’s Temple.
Consider these points of true strength from 1 Chronicles 28 when working unto The Lord to co-create seamless beauty:
· The Lord has chosen you (vs. 6, 10)
· Learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately (vs. 9)
· Worship and serve Him with your whole heart and a willing mind (vs. 9)
· Obedience is paramount and pivotal (vs. 7, 8)
· God will give you unique plans and specific instructions (vs. 11-19)
· Seek Him and you will find Him when questions and concerns arise (vs. 9)
· He will provide you with all you need (vs. 21)
· Be strong and do the work (vs. 10, 20)
· Take it seriously (vs. 10)
Pray: Father, Thank You for the work You have assigned to me. I treasure intimacy with You. I choose to step out in faith to do the work at hand and complete it seamlessly. Thank you that you are with me and for enabling me to do so. Amen.
