Rest Assured – Beloved Women – August 13, 2020
READ: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NIV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: When you lay down at night to sleep, your eyes may be closed, but are you fully at rest? There have been many times that my mind has been plagued with endless tasks, thoughts, and the anxieties of life. I’ve prayed to God for clarity, and wisdom for different situations, but have still gone to bed with no peace. Sound familiar? Despite our continual state of weariness, exhaustion, or restlessness, Matthew 11:28 is an open invitation for us to draw closer to Christ and receive His rest. Receiving God’s rest is not a sign of weakness, but it is a testimony of how we must depend on God greater. Jesus desires for us to be free of worry and burdens, but we must first rest in Him.
- Rest assured that this too shall pass.
- Rest assured that God has not forgotten about you.
- Rest assured that better days are coming.
- Rest not in what you see, but in what God’s word says.
Resting in Christ is not a passive act, but an active decision to surrender daily our fears, and burdens to the One who can handle it all. I invite you to rest in Christ with a sweet assurance.
PRAY: Dear God, thank You so much for the rest that You make available to me each day. In times when I feel that the weight of the world is on my shoulders, remind me to rest in Your Word. May Your peace cover and strengthen me each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
