Making Time for God – Beloved Women – December 20, 2019
“For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, ‘In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust, shall be your strength.’ But you were unwilling.” (Isaiah 30:15 ESV)
When was the last time you’ve sought solitude? Often times, we get solitude and isolation confused. Yet, I’ve learned that they couldn’t be more opposite.
Isolation is a way to escape everyday reality. Solitude is an opportunity to hear God's voice on how to reshape your reality.
Judas sought isolation to wallow in his guilt. Jesus sought solitude to commune with the Father.
I believe the Lord wants to speak to us, but we are often too busy to hear Him. What if you took a moment to pull away from the busyness to capture moments for just you and the Lord? For some, this may mean purposefully waking early to pray and read. For others, you may create a mini-retreat for yourself. Whatever, it looks like for you, do it on purpose. There is victory in stepping back for a moment of time to hear from the Father. Remember, even the Lord rested.
Lord, I thank You for showing me times when I can rest. Help me not feel guilty for pulling away, but to see it as a time of refreshing. I pray for peace of mind and to hear Your voice clearly. Meet me Lord in my quiet place and restore my strength. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
What would it look like for you to rest?
There is victory in stepping back for a moment of time to hear from the Father.
