Let Him Lift Your Head – Beloved Women – December 4, 2019
“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! For your name's sake, O Lord, preserve my life! In your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble!” (Psalm 143:10-11 ESV)
With a personal history of abuse, I am more than acquainted with the darkness of depression. Depression can influence you to isolate yourself, and sometimes it even takes away your very will to get out of bed in the morning. As you well know, there’s an enemy that would love nothing more than to possess your soul. But even in the midst of our darkness, if we’ve surrendered our hearts to Jesus, we belong to God.
In the midst of the agony of depression, we must get appropriate help. There is no shame in that. We also must not forsake gathering with other saints. That is, at a minimum, continue to go to church. But first and foremost, we need to turn to our loving Father. He will lead you in the way of life. He will bring your soul out from trouble. Praying Psalm 143 is something that you can do right now to let God lift up your head.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for Your faithfulness towards me. Lord, I’m struggling and I need You. Lord, please deliver my soul from trouble, because I am yours. In the healing name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Do you find yourself retreating from others? Are you uninterested in things that usually bring you joy? Did you know that Psalm 3:3 calls God “my glory, and the One who lifts my head”? (ESV)
God will bring your soul out from trouble.
