An Understanding Mind – Beloved Women – May 20, 2020
READ: “Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” (1 King 3:9 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Solomon is known in the Bible as being one of the wisest leaders; however I love how we can credit his wisdom to this single prayer.
I believe Solomon knew he was stepping into a position in which he could not reign as King within his own power. He knew that this role was bigger than him, yet instead of asking God to be the best leader, to be successful or even for wealth, Solomon asked for wisdom. He desired an understanding mind to meet the needs of his people and God granted him wisdom along with things he didn’t ask for because He saw Solomon’s heart.
As new doors open and you step into opportunities in which you may not feel qualified, find comfort in knowing God will equip you with the tools needed if we will ask for His wisdom.
PRAY: Father, I ask You to grant us wisdom and knowledge to know what to do no matter what we are faced with this year. Help us to seek Your Holy Spirit to guide us as we navigate this journey. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: Throughout this year, you will come face to face with big decisions, complicated situations to decipher and even a new position to navigate. Will you ask God for wisdom and understanding to help you throughout this year?
