Embrace Your Own Story – Beloved Women – May 29, 2020
READ: “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.” (Galatians 6:4 NLT)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: For years, paying attention to my “own” work was quite the task. I would see others blossoming into who God created them to be. They appeared confident, well put-together and happy. Meanwhile, I would spend time trying to measure up and have my own sense of accomplishment. Yet, no matter how hard I tried, I could never quite fit into “her” shoes. After years of frustration and comparison, I finally learned the importance of embracing who God has called me to be. We are uniquely created for a purpose.
There has never been and will never be a reason for us to be anyone else. Psalm 139:14 makes it clear; we are fearfully and wonderfully made. This passage goes on to remind us that every one of our days have been written and ordained by God. In other words, the Lord has a specific plan made just for us. Instead of trying to live out someone else’s story, we must be content with God’s plan for us.
When we keep our focus on God’s plan for us, we will never have to compare. We can embrace our own story and walk in it confidently. His plan is enough.
PRAY: Dear Lord, I thank You for creating me uniquely. Teach me to keep my eyes on You and Your plan for me. Help me to not operate in comparison but in contentment. I trust You Lord, for I know that Your vision for me is enough. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
