Read Romans 1 - 3

In Today's Reading:

Paul's desire to visit the Christians in Rome; both Jews and Gentiles under condemnation; righteousness through faith

Satan and all unbelievers one day will be judged and cast into the eternal lake of fire (Revelation 20:10,13,15). However, the wrath of God is . . . against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold (suppress) the truth . . . God has showed it to them. . . . so that they are without excuse . . . when they knew God, they glorified (honored) Him not as God, neither were thankful . . . their foolish heart was darkened Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man. . . . Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves (Romans 1:18-27).

Three times we read how God gave them up to their degrading passions (1:24,26,28). There are some who view sex as no more than a physical appetite to be satisfied. But, Christ has said: The fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers . . . shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire (Revelation 21:8). Sex is a gift from God which can only bring lasting satisfaction and fulfillment within the marriage relationship of one man with one woman. Victory over sexual perversion is possible only when it is seen for what it really is, not as sickness or as an alternative lifestyle, but as sin.

There is a disturbing and growing ignorance of the Bible, the only Book which reveals sin for what it is - rebellion against God. He alone has the right to set the standard for righteousness.

There is also a growing neglect of the church and a tendency to use the Lord's day and His tithe for self-centered pleasures. Doing so usually leads to excuses for sin that then remove any sense of guilt.

The Good News is that, now we are delivered from the Law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of (the) Spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter (Romans 7:6).
