Eternal Truth Into Tender Hearts | Psalm 127

Psalm 127
A song of ascents. Of Solomon
Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eatófor he grants sleep to those he loves. Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in oneís youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

Parenting has always been challenging. Just consider these mothers from the past. Columbus' mother: "I don't care what you discovered, you still could have written!" Michelangelo's mother: "Can't you paint on walls like other children? Do you have any idea how hard it is to get that stuff off the ceiling?" Paul Revere's mother: "I don't care where you think you have to go, young man, midnight is past your curfew!" Albert Einsteinís mother: "But it's your senior picture. Can't you do something about your hair?" And you thought you had it hard!

Children are a gift from God...even in the most challenging times. What you teach your children will stay with them always. What you fail to teach can be learned from no one else. You can tenderly build into little minds and hearts an understanding of unconditional love, tender care, and a belief system that will provide direction for life.

I know that your life is filled with exhausting chores and countless distractions. However, in the midst of it all don't miss the privilege of being with your children and taking advantage of those God-given teachable moments. God has given you the responsibility and privilege to implant eternal truth in a tender heart.

Father, give strength to the mom exhausted by early mornings, late nights and interruptions to her sleep. Give perspective to the dad working hard to make ends meet and trying to make the needed time for his family. Remind parents how fast the time goes and help them take advantage of every opportunity to implant your truth in a tender heart. In Jesus' name. Amen.
