God Sees Us and Loves Us

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39

Have you ever noticed that strange people come out late at night?  The later it gets, the stranger they get.  Somehow people think when they turn out the lights no one will see them.  But God sees.  Nothing escapes His attention.  There are no secrets with Him.  If your life is right with God, it is reassuring to know that God sees you.

I heard the story of a little boy, who was quite the trouble maker.  One day he came home from Sunday school in tears.  He said, "Mom, teacher said something and I need to know if it's true!"

His mother soothingly asked, "Well, honey, what did she say?"

"Well," he said, "I was goofing around and teacher warned me.  But I didn't stop, so she turned to me and said, 'I want you to know that even if I can't see you, God can see you!'  Is it true?  Is God always watching me, mom?"

His mother thought about the question for a moment and realized the teacher said this to frighten the little child.  So she replied, "Honey, it's true.  God sees you all the time, but you know what?  The reason He is looking at you all the time is because He loves you so much He just can't take His eyes off of you."

That's the way to look at the omnipresence of God.  God sees us and loves us.  Those eyes that He looks at us with are eyes of love.  He sees our flaws.  He sees our thoughts.  He sees our shortcomings, but He loves us just the same.  He can't take His eyes off of us because He loves us so much.  There is no escaping His presence.  That should reassure us.  Nothing will separate us from the love of God.
