Day 17: When Bad Things Happen
The Lord is good . . . he knows those who take refuge in him.
Do you remember your marriage vows—for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health?
It’s good that these promises presuppose tough times because it’s hard to keep them when the worse comes, the sickness hits, and the poorer part comes true. Those vows sent you into marriage with an understanding that bad times would come and a pledge to be “all in” even when things get dicey.
Every marriage faces hardship. It’s a given. The key is to face the difficulty together. Remember, God has provided you a partner, someone to lean on and love with in the midst of the battles. What a gift!
Praying together for our marriage
He prays: Ask God to strengthen your union, even in the midst of hard times.
She prays: Ask God to energize you both so you will continue to invest in each other, especially when facing hardship together.
