Coming to Know God’s Will
By Kristen Terrette

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives …” Colossians 1:9

I have journals filled with names and circumstances when I’ve asked God to intervene, save, and heal. I’ve seen countless prayers answered, which increases my motivation to talk to Him about everything.

In today’s verse, an ancient church planter named Paul said he prayed ceaselessly for the church in Colossae. He asked that God would give them the wisdom to know His will for them.

I’ve wondered if I pray this way for my friends. The Spirit gives us wisdom, through Scripture and a supernatural understanding of God’s plan and guides us as we make decisions. But, do I ask God to help others tap into this knowledge and walk it out?

Sometimes, but not nearly enough. Staying in God’s will brings rightness and peace that covers even the challenging or desperate times. It allows us to tackle any obstacle with victory. Things may not always play out the way we expect, but we can trust God has a plan.

As we beseech God on behalf of our loved ones, let’s remember to ask the Holy Spirit to give them clear knowledge and understanding of His will and plan for them.
