I Am a Child of God

By Kristen Terrette

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.” Galatians 3:26

The adoption process can be long, expensive, and painful. Full of distress and hope-sucking days where those who long to parent an unknown child wait without guarantee their dream will be fulfilled. They remain at the mercy of those in positions of authority.

Thankfully, becoming a part of God’s family is simple. Ask. Believe. Receive. Ask God for forgiveness. Believe that Jesus died and rose again—taking the punishment of death we deserve for our sins and then conquering the grave once and for all by His resurrection. Lastly, receive His forgiveness and His Spirit.

There’s no hidden red tape, no waiting for approval. God made our adoption process simple, because He loves us and wants to shower us with His love. Just as a father longs for a child to share his life and love with, God yearns to adopt us into His eternal family. And He doesn’t just adopt us in name. Galatians 4:6 says, “Because you are His sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts.  This means our inner being testifies that we belong to God. This is an amazing and mind boggling assurance! We’re children of the God of the universe!

Meditate on this truth today. Your faith has made you an heir with your Savior, Christ Jesus. Thank You God for this that was once unattainable but is now easily achievable because of Your grace.
