Access to God the Father

“In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” Ephesians 3:12
Early in my faith I wondered if God heard me when I prayed or cared about my problems. Then I pondered the great lengths Jesus went to in order to secure our relationship. If I was worth dying for perhaps my prayers were important to Him too.
When Jesus came to earth as a man, He left the heavenly fellowship with His Father so that you and I could experience closeness with God again. In the beginning (Gen. 1-2), man and God enjoyed perfect friendship until sin interrupted our relationship (Gen. 3). Jesus’ death on the cross to pay the debt of our sin was the only way the brokenness could be fully healed. His sacrifice restored our freedom to experience complete fellowship with God again.
Ephesians 2:18 says, because of Christ, we have access to the Father through the Holy Spirit. So the answers to my questions about prayer are a resounding yes! Placing faith in Christ restores my intimate connection with the Father. Now, I can approach God knowing I matter to Him and that He hears me. That emboldens me to speak to Him freely, giving Him every worry, bringing my sin to His light, and asking Him to fill great needs.
