15 Bible Verses about God's Faithfulness

15 Bible Verses about God's Faithfulness

As Christians, naturally we talk a lot about having faith in God. We form customs centered around worship. Our faith in Him makes us religious, and our belief in Jesus is what uniquely makes us Christians. Faith is an important topic, one we must constantly remind ourselves, especially when life gets tough. Another important lesson about faithfulness revolves less around how we see God and more around how He views us.

Yes, we are indeed called to have faith in the Lord, but also worth acknowledging, He displays a great deal of faithfulness to us. God believes in us when we don’t believe in ourselves. God supports us when others won’t. He keeps His promises to those who follow Him. This is evident through various accounts in the Bible and within our own lives now.

When life is a struggle and we feel worthless, unable to see above the water, we can trade in those negative thoughts for God’s truths. Here are 15 Bible verses about God’s faithfulness.

15 Verses about God's Faithfulness in the Bible

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
God’s faithfulness to us is already a blessing. God’s faithfulness to us enduring forever is an ever-ready reason for joy.

“Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)
The darkest valley in the life of a believer looks different to each person. Wherever that place is, God accompanies us.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. “ (1 John 1:9)
In God’s faithfulness, He is willing to forgive our sins when we seek Him out for repentance.

“A faithful person will have many blessings, but one in a hurry to get rich will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 28:20)
God promises blessings for those who follow Him.

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
God’s faithfulness is not contingent upon our own.

“Love the Lord, all his faithful ones. The Lord protects the loyal, but fully repays the arrogant.” (Psalm 31:23)
This is reminder of God’s promise to protect those who believe.

“No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
God looks after us even in those moments we are tempted to go astray. When these occasions occur, He offers a way back to Him.

“He will cover you with his feathers; you will take refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.” (Psalm 91:4)
God’s love metaphorically covers us. This verse speaks to His power and the depth of His care.

“But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
Those who wait on God do not wait in vain. He will look after those who are patient in tribulation.

“But I have trusted in your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in your deliverance. I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me generously.“ (Psalm 13:5-6)
Another reminder of the reward for trusting in God. He gives us clear reasons to offer praise.

“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
God’s faithfulness was present before we were given life. Jesus died on the cross for us.

“You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22)
People won’t always like who we are, especially as a result of our faith, God will stand by us regardless. He looks after us even when we face persecution from others.

“Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me.” (Psalm 27:10)
Some of us will face abandonment by those we expect to care about us the most. God will never abandon us.

“You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
God promises to be there when we seek Him out earnestly.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” (Matthew 6:33)
God’s provision can exceed expectations and always meets our needs.

What God's Faithfulness Means for the Christian

God’s faithfulness is a great source of encouragement for Christians. Knowing how steadfast He is in His love and support helps the modern-day believer maintain faith in the face of adversity. In a fallen world, we encounter struggles with other people for a wide range of reasons: conflict, war, distrust, abandonment, etc. This can lead us to doubt and become cynical about humanity. Moreover, there are times when we find a reason to doubt ourselves.

No matter what circumstances we face or from whom, God promises to be there for us. Those most important to us could give up on us one day, but God would still care (Psalm 27:10). We could lose our job, our health, our reputation, and more. God would still care. He is faithful to those who follow Him. That’s a promise!

In the Bible, many people faced adversity, and at times that led them to doubt not just themselves, but God also. Job had doubts, David had doubts, the disciples had doubts, but their faith outlasted the struggle. And God’s faithfulness to them did not waver. Aside from sin leading us to doubt ourselves and others, we sometimes mistake our circumstances to be an indication as to how God feels about us. A woman who suffers a breakup or divorce may think that God deems her as worthless. A man who struggles to overcome addiction may think God views Him as weak.

Neither is true. God’s view of us is not tied to our own nor is God’s love for us tied to circumstances. Jesus forewarned the disciples, and us, that in this world we would encounter suffering (John 16:33). Yet, He overcame the world, and the love of God was always covering Him. The same is true for us. In this world, there is a God whose faithfulness we can always trust.

God Is Faithful All Our Days

Every example of God’s faithfulness in the Bible is a reason to put trust in Him. As we read over Scripture, we see plenty of reasons not to fear, while noting all the benefits trust in God brings. In addition to these examples, we can also look inwardly at our own lives. God has already shown us faithfulness. God doesn’t start being faithful to us at some future point. His faithfulness has already been present since before we were born (Psalm 139:13-14). God made us in our mother's womb and designed us with purpose. He was showing us love before we understood what the word meant (1 John 4:19). Our relationship and understanding of God change with time, but His faithfulness ostensibly endures forever.

And since God’s been faithful to us for that long, we should be able to reflect over our lives and spot many occasions where His love shone through. Some of us struggled financially for a time, only to discover we found a miraculous way to make ends meet. Others recovered from severe illness, which the doctor initially said was impossible. Some can relate to the experience of God protecting us from immediate danger, like a wild animal or a home intruder.

Whatever our testimony, there are definitely examples of God’s faithfulness to acknowledge. Many examples, more than we realize. The more we can give gratitude for God’s faithfulness, the more we will find our own faith continues to grow.
