Verses about Women

The Bible has encouraging and insightful truths about women. Christian women can find inspiration in Scripture for how to be faithful in thought, word, and action. The Bible provides helpful guidance on their identity and how women can honor God with their lives and hearts.

“The LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’” (Genesis 2:18).

“A gracious woman attains honor” (Proverbs 11:6).

“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down” (Proverbs 14:1).

“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness” (Proverbs 31:26-27).

Verses for Wisdom

The world says that wisdom is found in having a high IQ or believing what the majority thinks is right. However, the Bible makes it clear that wisdom is from God alone. Gaining God’s wisdom is worth it. Women can stand firm on God’s word and know that they are getting real wisdom and truth that will shape how they act, live, think, and speak.

“Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:6-7).

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:5-6).

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5).

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17).

Verses to Overcome Anxiety

Anxiety threatens to hold women captive and keep them from having the precious peace of Jesus. In the Bible, there are verses that provide instruction for overcoming anxiety and leaning into the peace of God. Women do not have to carry their burdens, but can come to God for consolation, peace, and to lay everything at His feet.

“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken” (Psalm 55:22).

“When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul” (Psalm 94:19).

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

Verses for Encouragement

Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, worried, or uncertain, Scripture is a place women can come for encouragement. Through God’s truth, real encouragement is found. God is loving, good, and faithful – this is the amazing character of God that the Bible teaches. By finding encouragement in God’s word, women can cast out fear, loneliness, and doubt, and have the strength they need in Christ.

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments” (Deuteronomy 7:9).

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6).

“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one” (1 Thessalonians 3:3).

Verses for Forgiveness

Like many believers, Christian women may struggle to feel and believe that they are truly forgiven. The enemy may try to keep women down through shame and regret. Sometimes, women may feel that their sins are just too big for God to actually forgive. Scripture teaches that when we confess our sins, God will forgive! Jesus went to the cross and paid the debt for humanity. Scripture teaches to walk in the ways of forgiveness because we are forgiven.

“Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin” (Psalm 32:5).

“The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him” (Daniel 9:9).

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Verses for Hope

When life gets tough, when a woman goes through a tough season, or when her life takes an unexpected turn, it can be hard to keep hope. Scripture teaches that God is a God of hope! Women can pray for hope – God will hear their prayers and fill them to overflowing with hope. Women can put their hope fully in God, knowing they can depend on Him and that they have been brought into His kingdom.

“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me” (Micah 7:7).

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people” (Ephesians 1:18).

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (Colossians 1:13).

Verses for Grace

Women sometimes struggle with accepting God’s grace. At times, they expect too much of themselves and try to achieve perfection, which leaves little room for understanding. Scripture teaches that God is gracious. God wants woman to approach His throne of grace and He will give them grace in times of need. God’s grace will give women the strength they need.

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love” (Psalm 103:8).

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

“Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:1).

“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5).

Verses for Purpose

Women may feel like they do not have a purpose when they get caught up in their day-to-day life and responsibilities. It is easy to feel directionless when a woman is in a job she does not like, is waiting for clarity from God, or living out the various tasks of motherhood or caretaking. The Bible teaches that all believers have gifts to use, have plans and purposes from God, and can meaningfully serve God in any and every season of life. Even if she can’t see it at the time, God has hopeful plans for her.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (Ephesians 4:10).

The Bible covers a wide variety of themes, circumstances, and teachings. It helps women understand who God is and their identity in Him. Women of faith can find inspiration and motivation in their walk with Jesus through these and many other Scripture verses that promote truth, wisdom, and demonstrate God’s goodness.
