Immigration Reveals Self-Interest over Citizens’ Interests
It’s been a long time since an issue like immigration captured the attention of so many people. Yes, talk radio and cable television are driving much of the debate, but what critics of these media ignore is that they represent the voice of a substantial number of people whose representatives are not representing them, but only themselves, their careers and their interests.

A Wall Street Journal editorial yesterday warned that opposition to the Bush immigration bill could hurt Republicans for years to come. What about injury to the country? Is it all about self-interest and political interests? Why can’t our leaders put the country first?

Since when does controlling the border and obeying the law become secondary to other concerns?

A lot of us have lost faith in President Bush, at least on this issue. We see our culture, language, faith, and way of life up for negotiation with others who come from a different culture, language and way of life. They will make us like them if we don’t make them like us. We should know by today if the Senate cares more for the illegals and business interests than the country’s interests.
