Reality star and multimillionaire Robert Herjavec said in a recent interview that he struggled with depression after divorcing his wife of 24 years, and even contemplated suicide. Herjavec, who stars in the popular TV show “Shark Tank,” as well as the Canadian equivalent “Dragon’s Den,” told People magazine that he turned to his pastor to help him cope after the divorce last year.
Christian Today reports that Herjavec stood on a hotel balcony prepared to end his life last July. His three children stopped speaking to him after the separation.
Herjavec said, "I just wanted to end it. Everyone has their kryptonite. For me, it was my kids. It took me to a place I never thought I would go."
He continued, "It's been a terribly difficult year. We were great parents and a great team, but over time we drifted apart."
Herjavec’s pastor suggested he help in Union Gospel Mission’s soup kitchen in Seattle.
The reality star saw "suffering and hopelessness" in others and decided to give back. He began providing clothing and food to homeless people that we not healthy enough to make it to the shelter and even bought Wal-Mart completely out of socks on one occasion to give away.
Herjavec, who is now appearing on “Dancing with the Stars” said, "I was hollow and broken. And these people saved my life."
