His Promises Will Stand - Wholly Loved - April 30

His Promises Will Stand
By Kristen Terrette

“I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand and I will do all that I please.’ From the east I summon the bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill My purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.” Isaiah 46:10-11

God revealed many promises and life-altering insights when I worked for my church and prayer-walked the parking lot every morning. I wrestled with the nudge to quit my day job and focus on writing, but that seemed ludicrous. Leave a career I liked, where I worked with my favorite people, and try to become an author? Doesn’t everyone say they want to write a book? How many do so successfully?

The unknown was terrifying, and yet God’s leading was real and persistent. During one prayer walk, the Holy Spirit intruded into my thoughts and said, “You are a storyteller.” That one short sentence wrapped me in an embrace and gave me confidence. After more prayer and listening, I obeyed and left my position to write at home. It wasn’t easy, but four years later, I can say I’m a published author.

I still cling to the words the Holy Spirit whispered, because they were so much more than a compliment. They were a promise, and He always follows through with His promises. He said I could tell stories, and whether that meant to the kids’ ministry on Sunday morning or through words on a page, He would use me in that way. He guarantees His purpose for you will always play out.

As you diligently pray and listen, checking all you hear God saying against Scripture, He will reveal His will. He’ll give you a task to complete, a dream to accomplish, or a peace about your future. What has God told you? What He says will come to pass.
