Vocational Purpose

1 Samuel 11, 12, 13
"What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? (Matthew 16:26 NIV).

So often, at the end of a lifetime, a successful person states, "If only I had known 40 years ago what I know now, I would not have wasted my life pursuing wealth."

As Christians, we have the advantage of knowing the certain future. We have the advantage of being able to see life from God's perspective. We will spend eternity reaping the rewards of faithful service to God. Thus, we have the responsibility to orient our lives accordingly.

Vocational planning for us and for our children is based primarily on how we can serve Him best.

It is vital to seek discernment about God's plan and accept nothing less than the vocation that will complement and extend our ministries.

"Let him labor, performing with his own hands what is good, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need" (Ephesians 4:28).
