Absent-Minded Professor . . . .

It was quite a surprise to the colleague to learn that the absent-minded professor once had been in love. The thought simply hadn't occurred to him.
"Tell me about it," he asked the professor.
"It was a long courtship," the other replied, rather sadly. "Finally I worked up enough courage to propose to her. You can imagine my surprise and delight when she accepted."
"But something went wrong?"
"Yes, I went to visit her again a few days later and had forgotton all about the proposal and her acceptance. Unfortunately, I proposed again."
