5 Verses to Keep You from Loving Money

Find out what the Bible has to say about money, giving and debt as you learn to be a wise steward of the financial resources God has given you.

Money can be a useful tool, but it can also quietly take hold of our hearts. The Bible repeatedly warns us not to put our trust, security, or identity in wealth. In this video, we’re looking at five powerful verses that can help keep our hearts focused on God, and keep money in its proper place.

1. Matthew 6:24

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

2. Ecclesiastes 5:10

Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.

3. Hebrews 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

4. 1 Timothy 6:10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

5. Matthew 6:21

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
