Gratitude and Generosity
by Berni Dymet
1Chr. 29:13 And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.
Sometimes we're pedaling so hard through life that we become completely consumed with just living; head down, pumping away … all we can think of is ourselves. What we have, what's next.
There was a time where God had blessed Israel and they just stood back and looked at how much God had blessed them - and they were overwhelmed with gratitude. King David declared before the assembly of Israel:
And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.
For some people, it's a long, long time since they've done that. And then an amazing thing happened. Their gratitude turned into generosity. They gave free will offerings to build the temple - God's house.
I know how easy it is when I'm pedaling hard just to worry about myself. But when I stop to count my blessings and thank God - it's just like Israel. All of a sudden my heart's desire is to bless others.
I'm pretty sure - it's a God thing.
