Matt 8:23-24

23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.
NKJV

The disciples were professional fishermen who often rode on the sea of Galilee. In these verses we see the disciples caught in a storm which was large enough to terrify even these seasoned men. In the midst of this storm they are fearfully appealing to Jesus to do something so that they might be saved. Friend, what storms are you facing in life that get you shaken to the point of fear? Could it be the Lord is allowing you to be at that point so that your fear might run into your faith? Jesus, in this story, is a perfect picture of having God's peace in the storm!

Matt 8:26-27
26 But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"
NKJV

When God allows difficulties in our lives it's not for us to fear but to exercise faith. You see, it's the Prince of Peace who not only imparts the peace that passes understanding into our hearts in our storms, but also helps put that storm to rest. Our storms have come to pass - not to stay - and are meant to show us that we can have peace and faith through Him - even in rough waters.

Life Lesson: Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God.

Lord, please help me to trust You. Help me to not be fearful, but faithful in trusting that You can and will give me peace in all my storms. Forgive me when I allow myself to get shaken. Please give me the power to trust You no matter what storm may come. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
