Dave’s Devo: Muhammad Or Jesus? Ask Allah

Luke 9:34-36

The Palestinian believer had spent hours in relationship and honest discussion about the Gospel with his Moslem friend. “Jesus is the One who died for our sins. Jesus is the One who after His death didn’t remain in the grave,” but his friend was not persuaded. “Ask Allah if Muhammad is the way or if Jesus is the way.”

In order to answer this question we all need to go to primary historical sources and the Gospel of Luke is one of those sources. In his Transfiguration account Luke shares with us how the Father has already answered this question loud and clear from heaven about the identity of His Son.

“As he (Peter) was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them. They were frightened as they entered the cloud, and a voice came from the cloud,

‘This is my Son, the Chosen One, listen to him!’ And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days what they had seen.” Luke 9:34-36

After Jesus’ ascension, Peter didn’t remain silent about hearing Allah’s identification of His Son. In his second letter Peter wrote this, “We didn’t follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For he received honor and glory from God, the Father, when the voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.’”  2 Peter 1:16-17

The Moslem friend did honestly ask Allah to reveal whether Jesus or Mohammad was the way. God answered and he trusted Jesus.

LORD, help me to realize that You will powerfully speak upon people’s hearts. I need to have open, honest discussions with others, and help them to realize that in the Quran Mohammad never made claims to be Your Son, like Jesus did. Move many more, like this Palestinian in the West Bank to let You answer their questions about the true Way.
