Invest in Your Future
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:1-2
What kind of “thinker” are you? Are you more interested in the here and now, or eternity? Paul and Silas were two great examples of eternal thinkers. Even in the midst of their torment and imprisonment, they rejoiced, for they knew where their true investment was: in heaven. They had a choice to make that would impact the lives of the other prisoners (and prison guards) around them: they could cry and complain, like everyone else, or they could rejoice and be thankful. When the others witnessed their praises, they wanted to know about the God they served, and what helped them in their midst of suffering. It was an opportunity that was given to them, to bring others to Christ.
Being raised with Christ means we should be eternal thinkers and not look to earthly things to sustain us. What kind of “thinker” are you?
Add your name in this Scripture and pray: “Since, then, I have been raised with Christ, set my heart on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Help me to set my mind on things above, not on earthly things.”
Make a commitment to be an investor of eternity for yourself and others. Consider things that you can do, like volunteering at church. Commit to sharing the word of God by showing others how to rejoice in all things.
