Terrorists of Sin

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me to the way everlasting”.  - (Psalm 129:23-24)

These are some terrorists sponsored by sin and living on our own soil. They seek to sabotage our relationship with Christ. They are relentless and crafty character qualities that camp in caves and hide.  But we can’t let them get a peaceful night’s rest. We must seek them out and find ways to disable and dismantle their network with our powerful God-given tools.

Here’s how to perform exploratory surgery; we ask God to reveal sin directly to us. This simple means inviting God to explore the landscape of our lives and relationships in order to reveal to us those actions and attitudes we need to deal with directly. First we give God the freedom to search us and open up any closet He wants. Second, we invite testing to reveal our true character. Third, we ask for conviction of anything displeasing to Him. Fourth, we ask His guidance of sinful patterns over to clean ones that are right with Him.

An attitude of total awareness that we are in a battle against the world the flesh and the devil is essential. Without acknowledgment of the enemy we remain in denial and we are defeated. Intellectual acknowledgement of this is not enough. Positive steps of action that are based on the best intelligence are the only way a war can be won. We are in a spiritual war but we know who wins. “Greater is he that is within me, than he that is in the world.”

Thank you Father, you’ve got my back and I will trust you
