How quickly a stellar reputation can be damaged. After years of glowing recommendations from many car buffs, Toyota has suddenly faced a brutal assault.
The massive recall Toyota announced for brake defects came too late for many reporters' taste. Toyota's delayed response to this problem, and the quality concerns that come with recalls, damaged their reputation significantly.
Whether or not Toyota revives their good name is yet to be seen, but it's a excellent reminder of the importance of a good reputation.
Ecclesiastes 7:1 teaches, "A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth."
If you want to have a good reputation in business, don't let your guard down. Sensitivity to your customers, and timely acknowledgement of problems, are critical.
