An Averted Suicide

According to a friend, a corporate chaplain received a call from a troubled employee with whom this chaplain had worked. “I have a gun pointed to my head,” said this troubled person. “Unless you give me one good reason why I shouldn’t pull the trigger, I’m going to end my life.”

This trained chaplain wisely responded, “The one good reason is the fact that you called me. Put down the gun and let me help you.”

That chaplain saved a life by being like the shepherd in Jeremiah 23 when God said, “I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the LORD.”

A good leader is a shepherd who cares. Do you?
