Creation Clues
Creation Clues
His invisible attributes . . . have been clearly seen . . . , being understood through what He has made. (Rom. 1:20)
My husband and I were so excited. The kids were with my mother-in-law, and we were spending a week in Colorado. Our flight arrived at night, and we drove north of the airport for about forty-five minutes to reach our rural cabin. As the road began to twist and turn, I wondered what was around us. The city lights were far behind us, and the headlights of our little rental car didn’t give us much of a glimpse into the surrounding canyon.
The next morning we walked outside our cabin, and what we saw took our breath away. On every side we were surrounded by jagged mountains. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the aspen trees next to us in the canyon were bright yellow with fall color. Most surprising was the rushing river close to our cabin. We heard the water when we arrived the night before, but we had no idea that such powerful rapids were right outside our door.
Seeing God’s beauty come to light after the darkness of the night reminded us of the miracle He works in our hearts, bringing us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Creation brings glory to its Maker, and when we immerse ourselves in its beauty, creation can be a tool God uses to draw us closer to Himself.
So try to spend some time outdoors soon in the world God created. Take a walk through the woods, visit a flourishing garden, or even study the intricate detail of a spiderweb. Allow new aspects of His creation to remind you of what a big God He is. It will make you even more grateful that He loves you personally and intimately.
