God Provides
God Provides
The Lord will provide what is good. (Ps. 85:12)
Erica peeked in on her napping two-year-old, then turned and walked into the den. The last few weeks she had been researching day-care providers. As much as Erica wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, she and her husband, Reid, felt it was necessary for her to go back to work and put little Joey in day care.
But with stories on the news cropping up of babysitters who abused and neglected the children they were hired to care for, Erica and Reid wanted to make sure they chose the right person to watch Joey. Lord, Erica prayed, it’s scary to try to find day care for Joey. Please give me wisdom to find someone who will give him the kind of loving care he needs.
Later that week Erica heard about a Christian woman at their church who wanted to provide day care for one child. When Erica went to the young woman’s house to meet her, she was delighted to learn that she and Karen had a lot in common. Karen’s daughter was just two months younger than Joey, and Erica and Karen had mutual friends. Both women had attended the same Christian university and had similar viewpoints and values. Erica began to realize that in the midst of a difficult situation, God was working on her family’s behalf to provide for their needs.
In today’s economy many parents must leave their precious children in someone else’s care while they work, trying to make ends meet. Finding appropriate day care can be a daunting task. Are the caregivers qualified? Is the environment clean and safe? Will my child receive adequate attention and nurturing?
If you are in need of reliable care for your precious little ones, pray for wisdom. Check references, talk with other parents, and be diligent in making your choice.
