Learning to Trust
Learning to Trust
He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. (Ps. 84:11)
Rachel emptied the last of the laundry detergent into the washer. I guess I won’t be doing any more laundry until payday, she thought. Living paycheck to paycheck had become a monthly ordeal—a constant battle of trust to believe that God would provide.
She walked out to the mailbox for a breath of fresh air, cringing as she pulled the day’s offerings. Another medical bill? Lord, I am so overwhelmed by our financial situation. Please help me keep things in perspective. Thank You that my husband has a job and that we have a roof over our heads. Please help me not to stress.
As she sifted through the rest of the mail, she laughed out loud. A sample of laundry detergent was among the letters. Lord, thanks for reminding me that You know what we need, and You care for us lovingly and personally. I feel like You just reached down and gave me a hug through a little sample of detergent. Thank You!
Sometimes we go through difficulties so that we will learn to trust Him more, so that we will put our faith in Him instead of ourselves or our bank accounts. We think we need many things, but the truth is we only need one thing: a Savior. And God has already provided His Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He has taken care of our greatest spiritual need, so how much more will He take care of our material needs!
When life weighs you down, remember that He is Lord. When you have Him, you have a Protector and Provider who loves and cares for you.
