Teaching Fathers
Teaching Fathers

He established a testimony in Jacob and set up a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children. (Ps. 78:5)
Church and Children
Father. A lot of responsibility comes with that title. The good news is you don’t have to raise your children alone. Your wife, family members, and trusted friends can be a huge help. And you shouldn’t overlook what an asset your church can be.
Research has found that kids who go to church with their parents behave better and have a more positive attitude than nonchurched kids. When our kids are around other like-minded families in a Christian environment, it builds their character and helps them be more self-sacrificing.
Train Up a Child
Well behaved. Selfless. Positive. Moral. Aren’t those exactly the traits we want our children to exhibit? All of these qualities stem from spiritual training—which is one of a father’s most important responsibilities. Today’s verse says that God commands fathers “to teach to their children” the testimony of His Word and His mighty acts. God actually commands us to pass along His laws and His redemptive story to our kids.
When we follow this command, our children have a much better chance of beginning a personal relationship with Jesus. Then we not only receive the joy of knowing that our children will spend eternity with us in heaven but also the added blessing of having respectful, obedient kids on earth.
Bottom Line
Make sure you’re teaching your kids about God and consistently attending church. It’ll make a difference in your children’s lives.
