Know What You Know
Know What You Know

The one who has accepted His testimony has affirmed that God is true. (John 3:33)
A Gray World
Is there absolute truth in the world? Or is every idea equally valid? While people may say, “Don’t impose your beliefs on me,” you never hear them say, “Don’t impose your mathematics on me.” Why don’t we say that? Because we assume math is connected to reality. In math, answers are either right or wrong, and it’s the same with moral and spiritual beliefs.
A lot of people think they can create their own morality. But just try to explain that to the IRS at tax time! Relativism is unlivable. You don’t want your spouse to be “relatively” faithful, do you? You don’t want a brain surgeon who simply has an opinion about what’s in your head; you want one who knows what he’s talking about! Morality is no different. Truth exists.
Truth Is a Person
Nobody wants to live in a world where Nazism or hedonism or materialism is granted equal moral status with the Golden Rule. We know better. At the heart of reality is a Person who is truth, and this Person is someone you can know. He is God, the One of unimaginable love and goodness who has communicated to us what He is like.
Ultimately God doesn’t just call us to believe Him. He calls us to know Him. The apostle Paul said, “I know the One I have believed in” (2 Tim. 1:12). Don’t just believe the truth; know its Author.
Bottom Line
If you know the words of Jesus, you know God is true, and you know that all truth comes from Him.
