Rich Rewards
Rich Rewards

God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints. (Heb. 6:10)
The Least Little Act
Evangelical Christians rightly proclaim that our good works do not save us, but let’s not forget that God carefully records and rewards the service we render to Him. He will “not forget your work” when you serve Him by serving the family of God. What kind of reward-worthy deeds is He talking about? Jesus set the bar pretty low when He said, “Whoever gives just a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple—I assure you: He will never lose his reward!” (Matt. 10:42). The smallest, simplest, easiest task done for Jesus’ sake will be rewarded in eternity.
Storing Up Treasure
Some Christians get a bit uncomfortable with the idea of being rewarded by God. Sounds too mercenary, too self-centered, too much about us. We need to get over that feeling. God repeatedly says that He plans to reward our service. He wants to motivate us by the promise of a reward for a job well done. It is part of His nature to want to bless us in return for what we do for Him.
Take advantage of the opportunity to perform the good works for which God created you, and your reward will be multiplied in heaven. Remember, that’s a good, healthy, biblical motivation for doing good. There’s no need to try to be more spiritual than God!
Bottom Line
Find meaningful, enjoyable ways to serve God, and throw yourself into them. God wants to richly reward your service to Him.
