Reclamation Business
Reclamation Business

Jonah got up and went to Nineveh according to the Lord’s command. Now Nineveh was an extremely large city, a three-day walk. (Jon. 3:3)
Wrong Thinking
Disobedience to God doesn’t automatically disbar us from later usefulness. David committed adultery and murder, but God renewed him to teach transgressors His ways through beautiful psalms and hymns and to rule over the nation of Israel. Peter denied Jesus not once but three times, but God reinstated him for service to His people as a great leader of the early church. John Mark, helper to Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary journey, defected along the way, but God reshaped his life, and he later wrote the second book of the New Testament. Jonah also rebelled, but God restored him for service. This is the heart of God for His children.
Right Action
We should reject the notion that if we turn away from God’s will, we are forever disqualified. Satan likes to muddle us into thinking we are beyond salvage, doomed to God’s second best. Don’t believe it. God is in the salvage reclamation business. He delights in taking mistake-prone people like you and me and transforming us into something beautiful and useful. God never discards a repentant life. No matter what the disobedience, God wants to renew, reinstate, and reshape the life.
Perhaps you feel like you are beyond help. But He’s not through with you yet. Your life is not over. You are useful to Him.
Bottom Line
No matter how defeated you feel, God cherishes taking broken people and making something beautiful out of us.
