Key to Success
Key to Success

He stores up success for the upright; He is a shield for those who live with integrity. (Prov. 2:7)
The Owner of Success
Despite the American Dream, a man’s talent, experience, and work ethic are not enough to bring success. You can possess uncanny gifts, a broad and rich background, and the ability to burn much midnight and weekend oil, but you do not have the ability to make something succeed. No one does. A biologist can have “the building blocks of life,” but she cannot make life. A farmer can have soil, seed, manure, and rain, but he cannot make the corn grow. We can’t just make things happen on our own.
But there is One who can. There is One alone who makes life. There is One alone who makes crops grow. And there is One alone who brings success. He is Creator, Sustainer, Provider. “I am Yahweh, and there is no other. I form light and create darkness, I make success and create disaster; I, Yahweh, do all these things” (Isa. 45:6–7).
Redefining Your Goal
The Lord alone decides whether you succeed, and if so, how much. As with your talent, experience, and work ethic, He will dole out success and failure however He chooses. It is all from the Lord—everything you have and are—and to Him it will all return.
So what must you do to earn His blessing of success? Don’t spin your wheels on this one, brother. It’s the wrong question. Ask rather, “How can I please You in both drought and deluge, mountain and valley, in every time and in every way?”
Bottom Line
Seek to please the King; therein lies your true success.
