Packing for Vacation
Packing for Vacation

Let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. (Heb. 10:24–25)
What’d You Forget?
Maybe you’re the “travel agent” of your family, the one with all the travel brochures, with your tickets booked months ahead, the one who knows the fastest lines at Adventureland. Or maybe you’re headed to a secluded cabin in the woods, ready to enjoy simple time away from the cell phone and the TV.
But of all the things you could forget to pack for your vacation, make sure you don’t forget God. Not trying to be legalistic here; just trying to encourage you to teach your children by example that gathering together regularly to worship God wherever you are is important.
Is God Coming with You?
Sure, that visit to grandma’s country church may seem boring to the kids. But show them how lifelong faith has sustained people from older generations, even without the latest music and lighting systems. Or find a church of a different stripe or background and worship there. It will promote lots of discussion among your family.
If you’re a long way from civilization, lead a family worship service yourself. Sing along with a CD. Share a favorite Scripture verse, or tell what God is currently teaching you. A family time of worship will be a great memory for your kids, and it will honor God as well.
Bottom Line
Take the Lord on vacation—you may have one of the best worship services of all time!
