Out of the Darkness
Out of the Darkness

My heart is glad and my spirit rejoices; my body also rests securely. (Ps. 16:9)
The Lightning Bolt
The words of the e-mail shot off the computer screen like a lightning bolt. “I will be calling you to offer a full-time j-o-b,” the note began. Little else needed to be said. After picking up short-term deals here and there for so long, the promise of a “full-time j-o-b” was absolutely stunning.
He had had a great many disappointments along the way. At times it seemed that the prayers he prayed simply seemed to bounce off the ceiling. Although it had often taken every ounce of optimism he could muster to maintain a positive attitude, here was the confirmation he’d waited so long to receive. Amen, amen, and amen.
Weight of the World
As hard as the darkness can be to deal with, it makes coming out on the other side all the more special. When you feel like you’ve had the weight of the world on your shoulders, how great it is for you to appreciate the feeling of not carrying that burden anymore. Honestly, you feel you could take on the whole world.
But you won’t do it single-handedly. Remember all those times you didn’t seem to get an answer to your prayers? The Lord took into account every single word, whether you realized it or not. He had a good plan for your life all along! So when the next big trial comes along, be sure to remember the Lord’s faithfulness, “the One who lifts up my head” (Ps. 3:3).
Bottom Line
Don’t give up hope when it feels like you’re in the pit. Wait for the joy of stepping back into the light.
