God Can Reach Anyone
God Can Reach Anyone

The men of Nineveh believed in God. (Jon. 3:5)
The Impossible
The man’s father was a highly functional alcoholic—bright, energetic, and engaging. The son prayed for his father for more than thirty years, but nothing changed. No breakthroughs, no conversion, no surprise outcomes. He started to think, “I’ve had it. Prayer is no use. My father won’t change.”
Maybe you have a story or know someone like that, something that makes you stop expecting, believing, hoping, praying.
The Possible
But whenever we think things are heading down, God is always up to something great. After Jonah delivered his seven-word sermon, the Bible says, “the men of Nineveh believed in God.” The people farthest away from God came to God. God didn’t look at Nineveh and say, “No way, not possible.” He said, “I am the Lord, the One who rescues people from their sins, and I’m going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if you were told.” He makes the impossible possible.
The man who had been praying for his father said that a few months before his dad passed away, he heard him tell his family he had finally turned his life over to God. The son said, “I still think of it and laugh.” Isn’t that so true? Because the joke is on those of us who stop believing that all things are possible with God. The book of Jonah reminds us that God can reach the unreachable.
Bottom Line
Don’t stop believing. God can reach those you may be tempted to think are unreachable.
